Greetings on a beautiful winter morning!
Oops! After visiting the web site I realized I overlooked the good intentions I had in late September when I wrote my first greeting. At the time I intended to update the greeting at least monthly. That didn't happen - like many people I got busy with other things and my good intentions got pushed off my radar screen. Like many, I find myself saying I'm going to do better - and with God's help and occasional nudging from the Holy Spirit it won't be another 4 months between this greeting and the next.
This morning while I was working on sermon preparation I came across this story told by E. Stanley Jones. A missionary, while walking in the jungle got lost. He finally found a small village where he asked one of the men if he could lead him out of the jungle. The man agreed and the two of them started walking. After a few hours of working their way through dense brush the missionary began to worry and said, "Are you quite sure this is the way? Where is the path?" His guide replied, "Bwana, in this place there is no path. I am the path."
Whether we are struggling to keep "good intentions" or deal with the problems, challenges, disappointments, and mysteries of life, I have found that the best guide or path to follow in life is Jesus Christ. Here at First Baptist Church, we are trying to do this as individuals and as a church.
You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM at 75 Park Street, North Attleboro for worship in the sanctuary and immediately following the worship service downstairs for the coffee-hour and fellowship. If you have any questions or desire additional information from me, please e-mail me at Corhannah2@aol.com.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts with you and may God's blessings rest with you,
Pastor Ethel
